Baked Tofu

Enjoy this flavorful baked tofu - you'll want to just pop it in your mouth for a quick protein packed snack!

 

Ingredients:

l lb extra-firm tofu (or double the recipe, and freeze half after baking)

½ cup water

½ cup Braggs Amino Acids

Black pepper to taste

1 Tbsp sesame seeds

 

Directions:

1.     Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.     Drain the water off the tofu. Then cut the block into 5 slices (one slice is a serving).

3.     Spread the slices on one half of a clean, cotton kitchen towel or two paper towels. Fold the towels over the tofu. Place a cutting board over the towel-wrapped slices, and place something heavy (like a cast-iron skillet) on top. Press the slices for 20-30 minutes.

4.     Meanwhile, prepare the marinade by mixing the water, Braggs and pepper.  Cut each slice into 12 pieces and put them into the marinade. Let sit for at least ½ hour (the longer the tofu remains in the marinade, the more flavorful it will be). 

After tofu is marinated, arrange the cubes on an oiled cookie sheet, sprinkle with sesame seeds and put in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes, then turn each piece over.  Bake for another 15 - 30 minutes until slightly crispy.
