Are Your Negative Beliefs Holding You Back?

You may ask: “What are negative beliefs”?

They are conscious or subconscious beliefs that hold you back from achieving the amazing life that you want.

Many are from your childhood – “Don’t talk to strangers” is important to know as a child, but as an adult it can inhibit you from networking and growing your business as well as making new friends.

If you believe that wealthy people are “filthy” rich, that limiting belief could be inhibiting your true financial potential.

It's beneficial to look at negative beliefs in the areas of:
• Prosperity
• Relationships
• Career
• Spirituality
• Self-esteem
• Personal power
• Health and body

You may want to lose weight, but no matter what you try it just won’t budge. There could be negative beliefs running in the subconscious that simply won’t let that happen.

Imagine a woman who is afraid that if she loses weight, men will be attracted to her and she doesn't want that. So the weight stays on.

There are often deep core negative beliefs or fears underlying the more surface issues. If we don’t address these, no amount of effort using external solutions will yield lasting results.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use external or conscious methods to improve such as sales training or nutritional counseling, but when these are done in conjunction with subconscious work, goals can be achieved easier and faster.

If you saw The Secret or What the Bleep, you got an insight into the power of the subconscious mind. According to The User Illusion by Tor Norretranders, the conscious mind processes on average about 40 bits of information per second while the subconscious averages 40 MILLION bits of information per second.

You can see why tapping into the subconscious mind is powerful.

So what are some modalities used to work with the subconscious mind and negative beleifs? Meditation is one of the best known methods. We can get many messages from our subconscious when we quiet the conscious mind through meditation.

I highly recommend this as a daily practice.

The key thing here is to know that meditation is very unique to the individual and does not have to look a certain way or be for a certain amount of time. You can listen to CD’s, walk or do yoga with your meditation. Do what works for you.

I like the modality of PSYCH-K® or Psychological Kinesiology. It uses muscle testing (kinesiology) to help you communicate directly with both the conscious and the subconscious minds.

You can replace old negavite beliefs that sabotage you into new positive ones that support you.

It is unique in that it acknowledges the connection to a higher self and that the power to change is within you (vs. the practitioner). It does not assume it’s always a good idea to “fix” a problem but gets permission from the subconscious first before making the belief change and allows the subconscious to choose the change process.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) are also popular modalities and there are many more, each with their own benefits. It is an individual choice of what one (or a combination thereof) works best for you.
